WHAT IS PROXY?
Proxy is the student ministry (ages 10-18) of Mars Hill Church. We come from different backgrounds, different neighborhoods, and different schools, and each have a different story to tell. We like to hang out, have fun together, and learn and grow as followers of Jesus. We invite Christians and non-Christians to come hang out with us and learn more about Jesus.
WHY “PROXY”?
Proxy [prok'see] noun
1. A person authorized to act as the substitute for another.
2. An ally who can be relied upon to speak or act on one’s behalf.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, humbled himself and came into a fallen and utterly dark world inhabited by people he created, people who had rebelled against their loving Creator. He lived a perfectly righteous life, always following the will of God, always selflessly loving others, always revealing the character of God through words and actions. Jesus lived the life we are called to live but do not. If we follow Jesus in faith, we receive his righteousness. In this way, JESUS IS OUR PROXY.
OUR VISION
This vision for Proxy is to teach, train, equip, and lead the students at Mars Hill to a redemptive, transformed, and sanctified relationship with Jesus in community. This is accomplished through the Holy Spirit’s work in their lives, and in the lives of those Proxy volunteers who lead.
WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT
We’re all about Jesus. Our mission is to partner with parents to reach and disciple students. We want to see students turn away from their rebellion against God, what the Bible calls “sin,” and turn toward him to receive forgiveness and new life in Jesus. And we want to teach students who Jesus is, who we are, what sin is, why our Father sent Jesus, and our worshipful response in community with other believers.
WHAT WE DO
We gather weekly on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. and hang out, play, worship God through music, hear God’s Word taught, and gather in small groups to wrestle with what God is teaching us. We also connect outside of Wednesdays to go deeper–to share our lives together and walk together as we walk with Jesus. We also gather monthly for fun/social events.
WHERE WE MEET
We gather every Wednesday night from 7-9 p.m. at the Mars Hill Federal Way offices located at 1220 S 356th Street, Federal Way, WA 98003.
